The InnerCity Mission – a full-fledged faith-based Non-Governmental Organisation – runs a Family Strengthening Programme with a decent motive to support families who are destitute, thus unable to fulfil their needs of food, shelter, education and other things required to lead a life in a great manner.
Families with no source of income undoubtedly experience poverty, thereby going under intolerable levels of hardship to earn basic needs. The InnerCity Mission Family Strengthening Programs aim at reinforcing such poverty-stricken families so they can cater to their basic needs.
Here are some of programs being run by the InnerCity Mission
Food Assistance Scheme
As the name suggests, the Food Assistance Scheme aims at providing food assistance to hunger-stricken families. This program empowers families out of an idea that once the children are fed, the parents/guidance can channel their meagre resources to fulfil their other needs such as healthcare, education and housing.
Family Support Program
Hunger drives children to the streets to beg in order to satiate their hunger. The Family Support Program is a welfare program meant to support families in all aspects so their children don’t spend their childhood in miserable conditions. These families are provided with food, specialised training programs for a specific time period. The main motive of such activities is to empower them in such a manner that can elevate their status in the society.
Family Adoption Scheme
Families stricken by poverty find it very difficult to nourish their children. These children are likely to be abandoned, neglected and abused. In order to protect their innocent juvenescence, the InnerCity Mission runs Family Adoption Scheme. Under this scheme, children are provided with basic requirements such as food, shelter and free education along with a specialised training to empower them in all aspects.
Apart from the programs mentioned, other family strengthening programs include:
- Scholarship Savings Scheme
